19 Feb 2012 - Back wheel is complete, interior is done, and starting to flesh out the detail of the bodywork. There's a lot of curves on a Beetle! |  |
21 Feb 2012 - adding shadows to the bodywork. I always illustrate my cars in red first, and once it's all done I can change the overall colour. Red just seems to look right for all cars in my mind, and it shows up all the reflections and nuances just right. |  |
22 Feb 2012 - Lighter highlights on the body, and the glass windscreen and side windows. Next up is the chromework, which is always the most time-consuming bit. |  |
23 Feb 2012 - I've been working on the front bumper bar. Slow progress! |  |
24 Feb 2012 - Finally finished the headlamps! Now time to start thinking about the background. All that's left to illustrate is the remaining chromework (door handles, window frames, windscreen frame, stuff like that). Then I can chuck it all into Photoshop and start putting some nice subtle gradients into the paint reflections! |

27 Feb 2012 - Most of the chrome is finished now. I've decided I'm also going to do an older "oval window" version with the classic all-chrome bumpers and the older headlights. |  |

3 March 2012 - I've had problems with my Photoshop all day today. I've gotten this far, but it's sending me crazy, so I think that'll do me! Two versions: 1960s oval window Beetle, and 1970s Beetle. I just need to finish the gradients in the paintwork. |

5 March 2012 - The VW Beetles are finished! All paintwork gradients are done now, and I've refined the graphic circle treatment around the background badge, as well as fixed some reflections in the windscreen. First up is the 1960s version. Second is the 1970s version. I'll list these for sale now, and then start working on different colours. Another project completed! |

6 March 2012 - All kinds of different colours now available, including a very funky 1970s purple! On sale, all done. This baby is offifially put to bed. Now, to start choosing my next project...  |
